New SLA Materials at Midwest Prototyping: Somos Taurus and Somos Watershed

The new SLA materials expand Midwest Prototyping's SLA material portfolio for both prototype and end-use applications

We're excited to announce we've expanded our material choices for stereolithograpy (SLA) users, now offering both the Somos Taurus and Somos Watershed XC 11122 materials from DSM.

"Our customers have come to trust SLA as a dependable, accurate 3D printing technology," said Steve Grundahl, President of Midwest Prototyping. "Being able to expand our material choices with the Taurus and Watershed materials from Somos provides our customers with even more options for both prototyping and end-use parts - something we're excited to offer."

Get to know these materials a little more:

Offering strength and durability, Taurus provides SLA users with material properties typically found with traditional thermoplastics. With a high Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) and tensile strength, the charcoal colored Taurus gives SLA users strong, precise parts for a variety of industries. Some of the ideal applications include:

  • Tough, functional prototypes
  • Under the hood automotive parts
  • Specialized end-use jigs & fixtures
  • Electronics housings or connectors

Watershed XC 11122

The benefits of using Watershed XC 11122 are clear - literally. With optical clarity, Watershed provides a solution for prototypes requiring see-through housings, lenses, cutaways, or other applications which need clear components. Additionally, as the name might imply, Watershed exhibits extremely low moisture-absorption rates. Combined with its durability, Watershed provides a dependable, clear, and tough material solution for a variety of applications.

Some of the ideal applications for Somos Watershed XC 11122 include:

  • Fluid flow analysis
  • Environmental control models
  • Consumer Products
  • Duct work
  • Prototype Lenses
