Manufacturing Capabilities

Midwest Prototyping is one of the largest independent US digital manufacturing providers in North America.

We take pride in providing the very best solutions, not just parts, for our clients. By offering a wide range of manufacturing capabilities, including 6+ technologies, and 40+ materials, our team is ready to help you get your ideas made. We are AS9100 D Certified, ISO 9001:2015, and ITAR Registered. Midwest Prototyping works within the automotive, aerospace, consumer products, design, medical, and scientific industries. Our Material Pro database allows materials to be searched by technology and key characteristics.  If you’re unsure of a material or technology for your project, it is a great tool to narrow down results.  Don’t hesitate to contact a Solutions Manager to ensure the material and technology are a perfect fit for your project.

Additive Manufacturing Capabilities

Laser Sintering Part capabilities

Laser Sintering

Laser Sintering (LS), also known as Selective Laser Sintering, is an industrial additive manufacturing process that uses powdered thermoplastics (typically nylon) precisely fused by a high-powered laser. The prototypes or parts can be produced as fast as one day and are cleaned of excess powder and ready for use or a higher level of finishing.

Multi Jet Fusion Part capabilities
Multi Jet Fusion Part 2 capabilities

Multi Jet Fusion

Multi Jet Fusion is an industrial additive manufacturing process that uses a powdered thermoplastic that a liquid agent and infrared energy precisely fuse. When the process is finished, the parts are cleaned of excess powder and ready for use or a higher level of finish.

Stereolithography Part capabilities

Stereolithography

Stereolithography (SL), also known as SLA, uses ultraviolet-sensitive liquid resins (photopolymers) that are instantly cured when activated by a UV laser. Then the parts are post-processed with additional UV and thermal treatments when necessary.

Digital Light Processing Hood Rod Clip capabilities

Digital Light Processing

Digital Light Processing (DLP), otherwise known as DLS and CLIP, is a UV-sensitive liquid resin cured by a digital light projector. After processing, the part is cleaned, supports removed, and UV and thermal treated when necessary.

Fused FIlament Fabrication part capabilities

Fused Filament Fabrication

Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), otherwise known as FDM, is a thermoplastic filament that’s melted through a heated nozzle and selectively extruded, building layer upon layer.

Material Jetting Engine Block

Material Jetting

Material Jetting (MJ), otherwise known as Polyjet, is an ultraviolet-sensitive gel deposited by a print head and immediately cured by a UV lamp. The machine can use rigid and rubber-like materials and excellent surface finish.

Traditional and Other Capabilities

Cast Urethane example part

Cast Urethane

Cast Urethane is a process used to bridge the gap between prototyping and high–volume production tooling. It’s ideal for quantities from 1 to in the 100s, and both flexible and rigid parts can be used for prototyping or low–volume production.

A HandySCAN and car

3D Scanning

3D scanning uses a laser to capture the shape of physical objects to create a CAD file of the object for the computer. This technology is a great way to reverse engineer parts.
